The Professional Football League revealed this Tuesday the details of the broadcast rights packages for Ligue 1 for the period 2024-2029.

Once again, football consumers will have to reorganize their weekends to diligently follow their favorite teams. The newspaper L’Équipe reveals this Tuesday the main changes caused by the new distribution of TV rights for the French championship. In addition to the identity of the broadcasters, which will be the subject of this call for tender, the details of the different lots have leaked.

A first important element shakes up the landscape: while the contract which linked the Professional Football League to the broadcasters extended to 4 years until now, the new lease will have a duration of 5 years. Which therefore means that the big winner will be linked to the LFP from the 2024-25 season – the next financial year after the current campaign – to the 2028-29 season.“very good news for the LFP, our partners and the consumer”, welcomed the president of the LFP Vincent Labrune in comments relayed by the daily.

The multiplex will change schedule

At the batch level, the schedules will change for those matches which are not considered “headlight matches”. If the boxes for Friday evening (9 p.m.), Saturday afternoon (5 p.m.) and Sunday evening (8:45 p.m.) are therefore retained, that of Sunday afternoon will change radically. The Ligue 1 multiplex will no longer start at 3 p.m., but at 5 p.m., while the poster currently scheduled for 1 p.m. will take place at 3 p.m., giving way to a Ligue 2 match.
