Gattuso, a stone’s throw from Lyon

Gennaro Gattuso is getting a little closer to OL. The 45-year-old Italian is announced as the very likely successor to Laurent Blanc.

What do Marcelino (OM) and Gennaro Gattuso have in common? Both coaches worked at Valencia FC (Liga) and we could soon see them face each other in Ligue 1.

The Italian technician is expected to succeed Laurent Blanc, officially dismissed on Sunday, on the bench of Olympique Lyonnais.

Sky Sports indicated Monday that the 45-year-old technician was only one step away from his first experience in France.

Coach notably of AC Milan and Napoli, without having particularly shone, Gennaro Gattuso has no longer had a position since January 30, 2023 and the end of his time at Valencia FC where he arrived in July 2022.

The announcement could come this week. In the meantime, the Lyon players are led by the trio Jean-François Vulliez, Sonny Anderson (advisor to the president) and Jérémie Bréchet, current U19 coach.
