Paul Pogba’s return to Juventus is definitely turning into a nightmare. The midfielder had a very complicated last season in Piedmont. The fault lies in extra-sporting problems, notably involving his brother, but also in several physical problems which he suffered throughout the previous exercise. Deprived of the last World Cup in Qatar, the native of Lagny-sur-Marne surely thought he was out of the woods, but that was without counting on a new injury contracted this time when he came into play against Empoli just before the break international.

And the bad news doesn’t stop there for the French international midfielder. Indeed, Paul Pogba would have tested positive for testosterone on August 20 during Juventus’ first Serie A match this season against Udinese at the Dacia Arena, according to all of the Italian press. As a reminder, the 2018 world champion did not take part in this meeting, knowing that Massimiliano Allegri preferred to keep him on the bench until the final whistle.

Paul Pogba faces up to four years of suspension

Testosterone is a substance that cannot be taken by a footballer in Italy even with therapeutic authorization. Paul Pogba therefore risks the maximum sanction with a four-year suspension, even if it is still much too early to make convoluted assumptions. In the meantime, counter-analyses of these first results should be carried out in the coming days. On the other side of the Alps, the last case of doping in Serie A dates back to the affair between Atalanta and José Luis Palomino, who tested positive for nandrolone in 2022.

The troubles therefore continue for Paul Pogba, especially since Italy has confirmed its severity in this matter as the Palomino affair demonstrates. However, the French international can hope that his affair ends like that of the Argentine defender. Testing positive during an anti-doping control on July 26, 2022, José Luis Palomino was finally cleared by the Italian National Anti-Doping Tribunal. Despite this, the nightmare continues for Paul Pogba since his return to Juventus…
