Real Madrid are considering signing Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez to try to replace Karim Benzema.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side lost Benzema on a free transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad in the summer, and their only reinforcement was former Newcastle United striker Joselu, who was sent out on loan.

Jude Bellingham, the other signing of the summer, has taken charge of the attack since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu. The England international has scored five goals and provided one assist in his first four appearances for Los Blancos.

Vinicius Junior’s injury, however, highlighted the lack of attacking depth available to Ancelotti, who failed to recruit Kylian Mbappé.

The Frenchman informed Paris Saint-Germain that he would not sign a contract extension and would leave in 2024, which took him away from the first team briefly and put him on the transfer list.

But Real Madrid made no effort to recruit the Bondynois and failed to secure the services of the former AS Monaco player.

Man City striker Alvarez is now in the team’s sights, according to Spanish media Files.

Julian Alvarez, 23, played supporting role behind record winner Erling Haaland at the Etihad Stadium during his debut campaign at Man City, but he has still made 49 appearances and scored 17 goals in all competitions in 2022-23 .

He also won the World Cup with Argentina and was nominated for the 2023 Ballon d’Or.
