At the start of the week, Quique Setien was sacked from his position as coach of Villarreal due to a succession of poor results as well as his coaching deemed wanting by the Spanish press. Since then, the Yellow Submarine had been looking for a new technician and had ticked off several names on its short list. Recently, it was that of Raùl Gonzalez, ex-Real Madrid legend and current coach of Castilla, who was tipped to take up the torch.
However, this Saturday, Villarreal has just confirmed via an official press release the appointment of José Rojo Martin “Pacheta” as coach until the end of the season. The 55-year-old Spanish technician, who spent time at Huesca and more recently at Real Valladolid, will be officially presented on Monday by the Spanish team.
