Before becoming the top scorer in the history of the Seleçao in front of Pelé on Friday, Neymar, although a great specialist in the exercise, did not convert a penalty against the Bolivia goalkeeper.

For Fernando Diniz’s first at the head of the Seleçao, Brazil started its qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup with a 5-1 victory against Bolivia on Friday evening in Belem. The opportunity for Neymar to finally overtake Pelé in the ranking of the top scorers in the history of Aurivede, with now 79 goals to his international tally.

The “Ney”, however, surprised everyone by not converting his penalty. The new Al-Hilal player started as usual but was unable to beat the opposing goalkeeper, Guillermo Viscarra, in the first period (17th).

Rodrygo then broke the deadlock (24th), before scoring a second goal in the second half (53rd), just before Raphinha’s goal at the start (47th). Neymar then added his double (61st and 93rd). Only Richarlison, holder at the forefront, did not score.

Marquinhos and Renan Lodi started, while Caio Henrique came on (unlike Vanderson). The Brazilians continue with a match in Peru on Tuesday evening.
