England striker Andy Carroll has revealed his reason for joining French Ligue 2 side Amiens.

Andy Carroll has been the star defector of the summer in the French Ligue 2 championship. The center forward has broken his contract with Reading to join Amiens as a free player. He signed a two-year contract with the Picards.

This choice on the part of the former England international was surprising. So, the person concerned wanted to justify it. In an interview with a British tabloid, he said that it was the intervention of a manager of the French club that led him to cross the Channel.

“I had many options in many countries, including England. When I spoke to John (Williams, the sporting director), I came here straight away and looked at the city and the club. I knew this was the place I wanted to play.”he confided.

Amiens has started its championship well, with four wins in five matches. This reassures Carroll that he made the right decision. “It was by talking with John and my teammates that I made the decision to come here. It’s a good club, a family club with fantastic facilities”he added.
