City legend David Silva believes the Sky Blues’ reign can end this year.
David Silva, the former Manchester City midfielder, believes that Arsenal are able to end the hegemony of Guardiola’s gang over the English championship.
“Only Arsenal can stop Manchester City”
Silva, who announced his retirement last month after a final experience at Real Sociedad, remains admiring of what City are achieving but is careful not to predict a season as glorious as the previous one.
“They have an extraordinary team with extraordinary players,” began by entrusting the 2010 world champion to the Mirror. “This is Pep’s eighth season at City. The first year he got used to the Premier League, but today the team is almost unstoppable. Arsenal are the only team I see having a chance of challenging City. Others ? I don’t think they can do it.”
He also gave his views on the past Eastlands campaign which ended in a historic treble: “I watched almost every City match in the Champions League last season. I couldn’t win it when I was there, but I’m so happy for the club that they finally managed to do it. They deserve it. The club deserves it, the fans deserve to win the Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup – the treble. It’s an incredible feat.”
