In Spain, an FC Barcelona player makes the front page of Sport. This is João Félix, one of the Catalan club’s latest signings this summer. Pushed out by Atlético, he arrived at the last moment at the Blaugrana club, but Xavi already has a plan for the Portuguese to adapt as well as possible in Catalonia. First, he intends to meet with his player at the end of the international break, to explain the project and what he expects of him. And like the title Sport, Xavi wants to make Felix understand that he will have to earn his place, like everyone else. The Spanish coach thinks this is a big challenge for him. But Félix is worth it, because he is one of those players who can change the course of a match on their own.

Off to England now, with Wayne Rooney making the front page. The legend of the Three Lions could well return to the country quickly if we are to believe the tabloids. He is currently an MLS coach with DC United, but his contract ends in December. Birmingham City are said to be thinking strongly of Rooney as a replacement for John Eustace. The latter is however well ranked with his team in the Championship, but he could leave for Glasgow Rangers. And it would therefore be Rooney who would come to take over in Birmingham as reported by the DailyMirror but also the Daily Star. The tabloids refer to this possible signing as a “ sensational comeback in English football. Birmingham’s advantage, says the Mirroris that Rooney wants to come home.
“ Szczęsny’s act of love to stay in Turin!
In Italy, it is Wojciech Szczesny, the goalkeeper of Juventus who makes the front page of Tuttosport. The transalpine newspaper evokes a “ Szczęsny’s act of love against the Old Lady. The reason is very simple, discussions are underway for an extension of the Polish goalkeeper, who is nevertheless under contract until 2025 with the Turin club. No departure in sight, neither to the Premier League nor to Saudi Arabia! Mr and Mrs Szczęsny feel good in Turin and want to stay there, it is for this reason that the goalkeeper is ready to spread his salary to stay at Juve. Thus he could extend his contract for one more season, i.e. until 2026. On the other hand, he would reduce his salary from €7 million per year to €5 million per year.
