Back from his loan at Nottingham Forest, Keylor Navas (36) was promised at the start. Relegated to the role of number 2 since the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021, the former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper has struggled to swallow the pill, especially after having released two exceptional seasons in the Champions League (2019/2020 and 2020/2021).

Under contract until 2024, Navas was pushed out by his managers this summer, eager to put Donnarumma in optimal conditions. The Spaniard Arnau Tenas had also been recruited to replace convalescent Sergio Rico and therefore had to take on the role of understudy. Courted by Inter, the Premier League and Fenerbahçe, Navas had seen Al-Hilal try his luck.

Navas feels good in Paris

In the end, the native of San Isidro did not move. Registered on the PSG list in the Champions League, Navas therefore left to live a fourth season in Paris. But why not leave? The Parisian explains that the player refused the Saudi gold bridge (Al-Hilal has since signed Yassine Bounou) because he and his family feel good in Paris.

Navas also reportedly finally accepted his role as Donnarumma’s understudy. A lining still touching 1 M€ gross per month. Finally, his quality of footwork won over Luis Enrique, whose importance as a goalkeeper in his passing game is paramount. Not enough to revive competition with his Italian teammate, but Navas is ready.
