Former Paris Saint-Germain defender Sergio Ramos is expected to end his career at Sevilla FC. The veteran had been free since the end of his contract with the capital club on June 30.

The Iberian veteran has opened up on his decision to return to his boyhood club. Ramos recalled that he rejected other offers, including signing a contract extension with PSG. Nonetheless, he had his reasons for refusing the French giants and saying no to more money elsewhere.

“It’s a very special day, one of the most wonderful, because at the end of the day, coming home is very rewarding, a day full of emotions”, Ramos told Andalusian media. I had the opportunity to continue in Paris, even for two more seasons, but I didn’t take it.” added the defender.

“I’ve always been a person who lets himself be guided by his impulses, by his heart, and I’ve never been guided by money. And those who say otherwise don’t know me. That’s why it didn’t make sense for me to go to Saudi Arabia, or to go to MLS, or to go anywhere but here. I waited with a glimmer of hope and he arrived in the 93rd minute.

Like Messi or Neymar, Ramos did not fail to scratch PSG in passing. “At PSG, I had the opportunity to continue, but because of feelings or other things, you think the cycle is over. It’s not a question of contract, money, or years, it’s a sporting question, of mentality, of philosophy, of feeling, and I thought that it was in Seville that I was going to find everything That “said the 37-year-old defender.

Ramos would have been a quality veteran in defence. Last season, the former Real Madrid captain showed he could still play at a high level.
