A decisive meeting took place this Wednesday at the headquarters of the French Football Federation as the conflict over image rights has pitted the governing body against players of the France team for almost two years now. Highlighted by Kylian Mbappé and his public refusal to take part in a photo shoot in March 2022, the controversy continued ahead of the World Cup in Qatar when the Paris Saint-Germain star once again refused to take part in another shooting, for lack of evolution of the convention linking players and Federation. But things could change quickly. If a new collective agreement had already been sent several months ago, new discussions were started after the appointment of Philippe Diallo as president of the FFF.
And this Wednesday, a first objective was achieved during a meeting with the managing director of the governing body, Jean-François Vilotte, the lawyers of Kylian Mbappé (Me Delphine Verheyden) as well as the mother of the Parisian striker and the lawyers of Antoine Griezmann (Me Sevan Karian). All the stakeholders have reconciled their position around a new collective agreement even if the latter still has to be validated by the players and their lawyers. If all the details of the latter have not yet filtered, a joint committee between the FFF, the UNFP and the players could be created in order to allow the Blues to give their opinion on the various partnerships related to image rights. The ultimate goal is to find a solution before the next big international meeting, Euro 2024.
