PSG, the terrible sidelining

Undesirable at PSG, Hugo Ekitike did not find a buyer during the last days of the summer transfer window and Luis Enrique did not include him in the list of players for the group stage of the Champions League. Marco Verratti is not there either.

The nightmare continues for Hugo Ekitike. A year after his arrival at PSG (for 36 million euros bonus included), the now 21-year-old striker was pushed out by Luis Campos (who believed in him a lot). The former Rémois refused to join Frankfurt, preferring the tracks leading him to the Premier League, and almost derailed the recruitment of Randal Kolo Muani, finally concluded in the last minutes of the summer transfer window.

Ekitike left for half a white season with the Red and Blue, since he now passes behind “RKM”, Gonçalo Ramos and Marco Asensio at the position of number 9. He has very little chance of making a place for himself in the rotation within the Parisian offensive sector. Luis Enrique had started him twice during the Asia tour, but the player was not on the squad list for the Champions League group stage (against Dortmund, Newcastle and AC Milano).

Besides Ekitike, Marco Verratti was not selected for the LDC, as revealed by RMC. The 30-year-old Italian midfielder could quickly sign with Qatari club Al-Arabi. Luis Campos and Luis Enrique explained to the “Little Owl” that was not part of PSG’s plans and the player agreed to turn the page. Keylor Navas, on the bench with Spanish goalkeeper Arnau Tenas at the start of the season, and Presnel Kimpembe, in the recovery phase, are on the list.
