French central defender Lucas Hernandez has returned to the serious injury that deprived him of the rest of the World Cup in Qatar and the 2022-23 financial year.
Nine months after a cruciate ligament rupture against Australia (4-1) during the 2022 World Cup, Lucas Hernandez (27) is back in the France team. As the Blues prepare to face Ireland in the Euro 2024 qualifiers and Germany in a friendly, the tricolor central defender, who arrived at Paris Saint-Germain this summer from Bayern Munich, spoke about his latest glitch physical major which took him away from the field during the second part of the previous season.
“Mentally, I am a very strong, very solid person. But when you have injuries like this, it’s not easy. You have the impression of falling into a hole of not seeing the exit. With the help of my family, my friends, my relatives, my brother, my children, I bounced back a little easier,” declared the former member of Atlético Madrid at a press conference.
The 2018 world champion said he stopped brooding after being able to resume racing. “But it wasn’t until I started running again, two and a half months after the operation, that I saw a ray of light at the end of the tunnel. I realized that there was not much left to find the ground. It’s been a long time, but I feel better and better.”
