Since leaving FC Barcelona in the summer of 2022, Antoine Griezmann has once again become the figurehead of Atlético de Madrid.
The France international has been in imperial form during the 2022-23 season, and has rightly earned MVP designations throughout Spain.
Again this season, much is expected of Griezmann, especially as Atlético are considered outsiders for the Spanish league title, which he last won two years ago. If Griezmann has a good individual campaign again, the Colchoneros will definitely be in the running.
However, it’s uncertain whether Griezmann will stay at Atlético beyond this season. According to Sportclub officials expect a departure to be considered next summer.
Griezmann has made it known that he would like to end his career in MLS, joining other former teammates like Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. 2024 could be the year he becomes the next big name to make the move.
Atlético de Madrid are reportedly ready to let Griezmann go, provided they receive an acceptable offer from interested parties. Despite this, the player and the club will only focus on the current season for now, and rightly so.
