PSG: the Georginio Wijnaldum flop bounces at Al-Ettifaq!

He was one of the faces of Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021. The capital club then had a transfer window with great fanfare by recruiting Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Nuno Mendes, Danilo Pereira, Sergio Ramos, Lionel Messi and Georginio Wijnaldum. Loaned last season to AS Roma, the Dutch midfielder did not convince in a season where he was however a Europa League finalist. The 32-year-old player has just found a new base, however, as he arrives in Saudi Arabia near Al-Ettifaq. He signed a three-year contract there, until June 2025.

The one who has 38 appearances with Paris Saint-Germain for 3 goals and 3 offerings arrives in the current fifth of the Saudi Pro League where he will find a former teammate. In the middle, he will evolve alongside Jordan Henderson with whom he won the 2019 Champions League and the 2020 Premier League for Liverpool. He will also be under another Reds scoring player, Steven Gerrard.
