The last day of the summer transfer window was rather lively on the European scene with many arrivals locked in the final hours of the market. And if there is a big club that has not been idle in the last corner of the summer window, it is Paris Saint-Germain. Already crowned with strong reinforcements with Milan Skriniar, Marco Asensio, Lucas Hernandez, Kang-In Lee, Manuel Ugarte, Cher Ndour, Gonçalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembélé or even Arnau Tenas, the Parisian management made two big final blows with the arrivals of Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani in Paris. But in the direction of departures, a player has not finally packed up despite noisy rumours: French striker Hugo Ekitike therefore remains in the capital.

Indeed, as we revealed to you exclusively on our site, several clubs including West Ham, Crystal Palace and Eintracht Frankfurt have tried everything to dislodge Hugo Ekitike from Paris Saint-Germain. And despite the agreements reached with the Parisian management, the player never gave the green light to leave the residents of the Parc des Princes. As confirmed by our colleagues from The Team, a solution still tried to be found to bring Ekitike to Eintracht Frankfurt all day Friday, before the summer transfer window deadline. But the former Stade de Reims striker would have refused to go to the Bundesliga, which also provoked the rage of Paris because of the delay in the signing of Randal Kolo Muani, who almost failed.

Misunderstanding internally

In the story of this crazy last day of the Paris transfer window, The Team explains, moreover, that the president of PSG, Nasser al-Khelaïfi returned to a black anger against Hugo Ekitike and the entourage of the player. The Qatari sports leader thought that Ekitike, long mentioned in a possible exchange with Frankfurt for the signing of Randal Kolo Muani in Paris, was blocking any possible progress in the negotiations. The discussions between the Parisian club and Hugo Ekitike’s agents therefore very quickly became quite heated for several reasons. Totally in shock, number 44 of PSG did not understand why the Parisian management was pointing the finger at him, making him the main scapegoat in the difficulties of the deal concerning RKM.

According to the player’s entourage, the interest of Eintracht Frankfurt was never really concrete, at least did not appear clearly. After some internal quarrels, Paris Saint-Germain was able to resume negotiations to complete the arrival, not without difficulty, of Randal Kolo Muani in Paris. Meanwhile, Hugo Ekitike was preparing to stay in the Paris workforce since he had no intention of really packing up this summer. In the mind of the French striker, everything is clear: respect his contract and try to win at PSG. To see now if these internal standoffs between the player, his agents and the club will tarnish the morale of Ekitike who will have to fight heavy competition on the offensive lines with the late arrivals of Bradley Barcola but especially Randal Kolo Muani.
