In the middle of the transfer window, OL suffered a major crisis. Its former president Jean-Michel Aulas and the American successor John Textor are engaged in an open war.

Nothing is going well at Olympique Lyonnais. In the space of a few months, the relationship between Jean-Michel Aulas and John Textor has completely degenerated and is now continuing in court. The former president of the club has indeed announced to file a complaint against his successor for defamation.

This legal action follows statements by Textor on Tuesday who accuse his predecessor of having hidden the concerns of the DNCG from him before the closing of the sale of the club. The former manager also initiated proceedings before the Lyon commercial court and obtained a protective seizure of 14.5 million euros on the club’s accounts.

Textor retorts

The day after this event, OL Groupe reacted with a scathing press release against the former owner of the Rhone club. “OLG therefore strongly contests the decision handed down yesterday by the President of the Commercial Court of Lyon (…) The Company has undertaken to file all appeals against this decision. OLG deeply regrets that its former Chairman, who is also a shareholder and director of the Company, having as such full knowledge of the extremely damaging nature of his actions, initiated an attack as violent as it is illegitimate against Olympique Lyonnais“, can we read.

For his part, Santiago Cucci, the executive president of OL, did not hesitate to light up his predecessor in an interview with AFP. “It is well known that he has hired a communication agency which has been denigrating the club for several weeks (…) He puts his personal interests before those of the club, of which he likes to recall that he is administrator and honorary president. , Cucci said. War is declared.
