On the eve of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, scheduled for Monday October 26 in London, the predictions are multiplying. Present on the set of Téléfoot this Sunday morning, Rio Mavuba revealed his favorite to succeed Ousmane Dembélé, while recognizing that several candidates can legitimately claim the supreme individual reward. Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappé are among the names mentioned by the former French international, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Rodri and Fabián Ruiz are also among the players cited in the debates around the individual trophy.

“It’s still a divisive subject where no one is really unanimous. I’m trying to reread the criteria. I tell myself that Dembélé cannot be erased. He is decisive in big moments. He won the Champions League. Afterwards, if someone tells me the best player currently, it’s Lamine Yamal. But over the season, I think that a Harry Kane or a Kylian Mbappé deserves this 2026 Ballon d’Or. They scored a lot of goals, they performed well. Harry Kane has also won trophies. If I have to decide, I think I would give it to Kylian Mbappé for his individual performances”explained Mavuba. See you this Monday.
