Mikel Arteta has spoken out about Arsenal’s plans to cut 60 positions at the club, an announcement which comes just days after signing his new contract. Asked about this decision, the Spanish coach was keen to point out that he was not in the best position to express himself on the subject, while defending the club’s approach. “We have to make decisions to place people in the right positions and continue to invest in order to achieve our objectives and build the success we want”he explained.

Furthermore, Arteta confirmed that Arsenal would redo their official photo for the 2026-2027 season in order to include William Saliba. The French defender was absent during the initial session due to a medical appointment, which raised questions after the publication of the photo. The technician specified that this shooting had already been postponed several times, in particular for reasons linked to the club’s commercial obligations. He finally assured that the French international was coping well with the situation and knew how much he was appreciated within the squad.
