After LaLiga president Javier Tebas likened the club’s methods to propaganda of the Nazi regime, Real Madrid reacted strongly with an official statement demanding his immediate resignation from his functions in the league and the federation this Friday. Deeming these remarks intolerable and morally repugnant, the capital club denounces a recurring lack of impartiality and accuses Tebas of seeking to discredit his actions, in particular his requests for transparency in the Negreira affair and his calls to reform Spanish arbitration.

A little later this Friday, Tebas responded with a vitriolic response to X: ““I have lost count of the times where, in thirteen years, the leaders of Real Madrid have demanded my resignation or tried to have me disqualified: complaints to the CSD, criminal legal actions… Today’s is just one more. What still doesn’t arrive, however, are the answers. They confuse neutrality and independence. My role requires independence, not passivity in the face of injustice or silence in the face of insulting and disproportionate attacks by Real Madrid TV and its relays against our competition. The president of LaLiga must defend it, including against the leaders of Real Madrid. LaLiga acted from day one in the Negreira affair. Repeating that we have remained passive does not make it true. Talking about regeneration while attacking the prestige of the competition they compete in is just a distorted narrative: what they failed to achieve with the Superleague, they now seek to achieve by destroying the national championship. All these maneuvers have a name: intimidation. And wrapping it in an official statement will never turn it into regeneration.»
