Guillaume Restes continues his rise. Winner of Le Mans in Ligue 1 with Toulouse, the 22-year-old goalkeeper also returns from a memorable meeting with the French team, during which he celebrated his first selection against Belgium, under the orders of Zinedine Zidane. At the microphone of Téléfootthe Toulouse goalkeeper returned to this experience and the advice received from Fabien Barthez. “Having fun as usual, it’s just football, don’t change”he explained. He also mentioned Mike Maignan, whom he considers a model: “It’s definitely an example. He has already done great things with the French team. He’s the third most capped goalkeeper in the history of the Blues, that gives you ideas and we want to try to do the same thing. Everything went very well with Mike Maignan and Jean Butez. »

However, the Toulouse native had not always imagined a career in the cages. When he was a child, his ambition was rather to follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi and play on the pitch in an attacking role. “At the beginning, I wanted to be like Messi, but I didn’t have the technical skills, so we quickly decided to put me in the cages”he said. A change of direction which finally allowed him to establish himself at TFC and discover the French team.
