The sanction of Vinícius Júnior is maintained. The Appeals Committee of the Spanish Federation (RFEF) rejected Real Madrid’s appeal and confirmed the four-match suspension imposed on the Brazilian striker after his expulsion against Villarreal (1-0) last weekend. The Madrid club hoped to obtain the cancellation of the sentence or, at least, a reduction of it. But the Iberian body did not note any obvious error on the part of the referee and considered that the initial decision was justified.

Suspended for the Sevilla reception on Sunday, Vinícius Júnior will therefore miss the Clasico against FC Barcelona, at the Camp Nou (October 25), as well as the next La Liga matches against Racing de Santander (November 1) and Valencia (November 7). Real Madrid notably contested the two suspension matches linked to his expulsion as well as the two others imposed for his protests to referee Díaz de Mera. All his arguments were rejected. The Brazilian international (57 caps) will only return to the championship after the international break, during the match against Celta, scheduled for November 21 or 22.
