The “Momo Sanhadji” affair has reached a new legal milestone and is further impacting the Mbappé clan. At the heart of this storm: the financial and personal ties maintained for years between Mohamed Sanhadji, the former strong man of security for the France team, and the family of the captain of the Blues.

Kylian Mbappé didn’t just have a good time in Paris on September 30. His presence in the capital while he was injured had sparked strong criticism in the Spanish press, particularly after he was seen in the evening with his partner Ester Exposito. However, the explanation was judicial: the 27-year-old had in fact gone to the premises of the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) to answer questions from officials.

Investigators are seeking in particular to clarify the exact nature of the financial largesse granted to the former police officer. Among them was a donation of 60,300 euros made in June 2023 from prize money from the World Cup in Qatar. A month later, Sanhadji accompanied the player during a family trip to Cameroon, raising the question of a paid private mission outside his official framework. The IGPN is also interested in a loan of 120,000 euros requested by the police officer under the pretext of false financial difficulties, as well as the assumption of personal expenses by the clan.

Mbappé is not the only one to have been heard. A constellation of football and entertainment personalities – from Franck Ribéry to the comedian Jamel Debbouze, including Noël Le Graët, the former president of the French Football Federation, and Philippe Diallo, his successor – paraded in front of the police.

Fayza Lamari placed under the status of assisted witness

Last Friday, it was the turn of Fayza Lamari, the player’s mother, to appear before the three investigating judges in charge of the case in Paris. At the end of her hearing, the matriarch escaped indictment but was placed under the status of assisted witness. This intermediate decision means that there are indications making his participation in the facts likely, without finding serious and consistent indications at this stage.

Fayza Lamari is notably accused of having requested the intervention of Sanhadji to facilitate the obtaining of four visas for the benefit of relatives. Assisted by Mᵉ Marie-Alix Canu-Bernard, who also represents her son, Fayza Lamari thus sees justice looking into the services provided by the former police commander, indicted on September 16 for corruption, fraud and money laundering.
