The World Cup kissing scandal continues in Spain, as does the hunger strike started by the mother of suspended RFEF president Luis Rubiales.

Angeles Bejar made headlines on Monday after barricading herself in the Church of the Divine Shepherd in Motril, Rubiales’ hometown. She has started a hunger strike to protest against what she calls the “witch hunt” which her son is the subject of in the international press and in the world of football.

Since Tuesday evening, she remains firmly attached to this strike. Speaking to the press, around 30 journalists gathered at the church, where she said she saw her doctor and only drank water during her hunger strike.

“She answered the question of how long the strike would last and if she was ready to put her life in danger”, as indicated by Cadena Cope.

Rubiales has been suspended by FIFA for 90 days and the Spanish Sports Ministry is also awaiting the findings of a court to decide on legal action against him. However, he refused to resign and has not yet responded to RFEF’s request.
