After Manchester City’s resounding victory against Liverpool (0-3), Enzo Maresca let his relief show when discussing the explosive issue between the Cityzens and the Premier League. Asked at a press conference about this procedure with potentially serious consequences, the coach expressed his impatience to finally be able to express himself freely on the subject. “You can’t imagine how happy I am… I hope to be able to talk about this situation (the proceedings) when we win our appeal! »he said. An exit which comes as the Mancunian club remains engaged in a major legal battle, after being found responsible for almost all of the 115 financial offenses with which it was accused by the independent commission. “After 10 or 15 years, when the club is winning titles, putting in place the right strategies to win them, and suddenly this happens… I think it’s not pleasant for them. But a process is underway, we will see how it ends”also added the former Chelsea coach.

This statement also comes after the revelations of Bloomberg concerning confidential discussions between Manchester City and the Premier League with a view to a possible amicable agreement. According to the American media, the negotiations failed, in particular because the club refused to recognize the accusations made against him. Manchester City continues to contest the commission’s findings and has initiated an appeal process, the outcome of which could have major consequences for its future. While awaiting a final decision, Maresca’s comments reflect the club’s desire to see this file closed, even if the coach did not specify what he meant by “win” this call.
