Could Paris Saint-Germain be sanctioned by the LFP after the political banner displayed by the Collectif Ultras Paris during the reception at Le Mans (3-1), Saturday evening, at the Parc des Princes? This is the question that some were already asking themselves late Saturday evening. “Your militias are repressing, our youth are resisting”we could read in Virage Auteuil, in reference to student mobilizations and accusations of police violence. The security agents quickly had the message removed, before the ultras left their platform in protest, chanting in particular “Freedom for the ultras”then return to their places after the break. The stadium’s internal regulations prohibit media of a political, ideological or philosophical nature.
However, a disciplinary sanction from the LFP is not automatic. The committee could examine the circumstances of the incident, the nature of the message and the measures taken by the club to put an end to it. A fine or partial closure of the stand are among the possible sanctions in terms of excesses in the stands, but there is nothing to confirm that they will be imposed in this case. The removal of the banner by security could be taken into account in the assessment of the facts. In the absence of official confirmation of a possible procedure, PSG cannot therefore be considered as already sanctioned, or even punishable.
