Sent off against Villarreal after pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair, Vinicius Júnior apologized to Real Madrid and its supporters on Instagram. “The joy continues… Forgive me to my team and the supporters”wrote the Brazilian winger after the Merengue victory (1-0), thus acknowledging having left his teammates outnumbered in the final minutes of the match. Coming into play in the second half, number 7 thought he had scored the break goal before the VAR intervened to point out his fault and push the referee to send him off directly.

But Vinicius’ mea culpa was accompanied by a new message denouncing the arbitral treatment to which he believes he was subjected. The Brazilian thus shared in an Instagram story a publication compiling several actions during which he considers having been the victim of unsanctioned faults. “And the one who always receives a yellow and a red is Vinicius, what a shame”could we read on this montage republished by the Madrilenian. A way of apologizing for having penalized his team, while maintaining his protest against the refereeing body. A speech which comes at a time when the striker risks several matches of suspension, including the possibility of missing the Clasico against FC Barcelona.
