The AtlĂ©tico de Madrid coach, who notably faced the Pulga on numerous occasions when he played for FC Barcelona, paid tribute to the man he considers to be a historical reference in football. “We, the Argentines, are grateful to have had the best player in history. Messi, given his statistics, is unbeatable. I want to thank him for everything he taught us.”declared the technician at a press conference.
Beyond the numbers and records, Simeone also insisted on the mentality transmitted by the Albiceleste captain throughout his international career. “He taught us that when things are bad, you have to fight and keep moving forward”he stressed.
