Real Madrid - Villarreal: the official line-ups

It’s the shock of the eighth day of La Liga! This evening at 9 p.m., Real Madrid hosts Villarreal for a duel between two teams who finished on the championship podium last season. The Merengues remain on a defeat in the derby against Atlético (2-1) and are fourth in the standings, with five wins and two losses on the clock. José Mourinho’s players will therefore want to react this evening against a quality opponent. The Portuguese technician will be able to count on Courtois in the cages. Tchouaméni and Valverde will form the double pivot, while Diomandé, Bellingham, Güler and Mbappé will be lined up in front, leaving Vinicius Jr on the bench.

Opposite, the “yellow submarine” had started the season very badly with five games without a victory in the league. Inigo Perez’s men, however, reacted well by winning their last two matches in Malaga and against Levante (3-1 both times). Ninth in the standings, Villarreal therefore has the opportunity to completely revive in the event of a good result at the Bernabéu this evening. Veiga, Foyth and Navarro will form a three-way defense, with Freeman and Cardona as backup. Up front, Perez and Akhomach are preferred to Mikautadze or Moreno.
