Penultimate in Ligue 1, OM had a bad international window with injuries to Amine Gouiri, Derek Cornelius, Himad Abdelli and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Danish midfielder will be absent against Troyes on Sunday.

Bruno Genesio reassured OM supporters during his press conference on Friday, two days before the match in Troyes, Sunday (5 p.m.), on behalf of the 6th day of Ligue 1. The Phocaeans have a good opportunity to revive themselves as they passed the international window in 17th and penultimate place in the French championship, after a terrible series of four defeats in a row against AS Monaco (2-0), Paris FC (2-3), Stade Rennais (1-0) and PSG (1-2). Not counting the one in the den of Besiktas in the Europa League (4-1).

The Marseillais coach thus confirmed the availability of Amine Gouiri and Himad Abdelli. The OM center forward was injured two weeks ago during Algeria’s first match, while his Green teammate had a minor minor incident. They are both training as the move into Dawn approaches. Derek Cornelius will miss many months, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will miss several matches due to a thigh injury.

Tochukwu Nnadi is thus ready to start in midfield alongside Abdelli and this could bring a lot to Genesio’s team. Injured in a knee during the summer, the Nigerian defensive midfielder did not have surgery and returned to training. He has a card to play, almost eight months after his recruitment from Zulte Waregem for 6 million euros (bonus included). The number 6 of the squad had three starts at the end of last season, against OGC Nice, during the rout at Nantes (3-0) as a right back and for the small victory at Le Havre.

Nnadi trained in Dubai and Bulgaria

When he arrived in Provence, Nnadi was announced as a player with little technical brilliance, at least quite limited on the restart, but being a madman in the middle battle with a lot of activity. The 1.76m Nigerian has had a very particular journey since he left for Dubai at the age of 16 to be trained in a training center. He then began his professional career in Bulgaria, at Botev Plovdiv, before studying in Belgium from 2024, to become a Nigerian international.

Although he used Nnadi little at the last African Cup of Nations last winter, Eric Chelle was very complimentary of the defensive midfielder. “This little one is a treat, you will be surprised because he can be very aggressive on the pitch. He is very fast, powerful, and is capable of recovering a lot of balls from the opponents’ feet, with this aggressiveness over around fifteen meters to chase the carrier”explained the Super Eagles coach in The Team. Enough to change the face of Bruno Genesio’s OM today?
