“Very happy to launch SPORT+, the new free digital platform from CANAL+ dedicated to Sport: 9 major competitions, exclusive images, live, summaries, short formats and all of CANAL+’s editorial expertise gathered in one place. Accessible directly in the CANAL+ App for our subscribers… and for all sports fans.” In the absence of Ligue 1 (and while waiting to position itself or not on the next call for tenders for TV rights for the French championship), Maxime Saada, the president of Canal+, is launching a brand new product.
The Sport+ channel is now offered for free on the platform canalplus.comwith the only obligation to have an account. The audiovisual group promises to offer content from its nine major competitions with live broadcasts and many other programs: the Champions League, the Europa League, the Conference League, the Premier League, the Arkema Premier League, Formula 1, MotoGP, the Top 14 and the Pro D2.
Canal+ chooses Rennes-OFI Crete
For the big launch of this new channel (partly designed for use on mobile with vertical formats), Canal+ hits hard by offering the Singapore Grand Prix on Sport+ on Sunday. The race through the streets of the Southeast Asian city-state can be followed from 12:55 p.m. (French time), with the Grand Prix starting at 2 p.m.
The upcoming European week will be quite crazy to follow on the Canal+ channels, with RC Lens-Sporting from 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, before Arsenal-Losc at 9 p.m., live from the Emirates Stadium, on Canal+Foot. PSG plays its second Champions League match against Manchester City on Wednesday at the Etihad Stadium. It is Thursday evening that Sport+ will broadcast, therefore for free, a Europa League match, with the reception of OFI Crete by Stade Rennais (kick-off 9 p.m.). OL take on Crystal Palace at 6:45 p.m. and OM take on Olympiakos at 9 p.m. Two clubs that Canal+ could perhaps offer free to their respective supporters in the coming months.
