According to English media, Kylian Mbappé must make up his mind. The 2026 Ballon d’Or will indeed be played between Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane.

Ousmane Dembélé’s succession to the 2026 Ballon d’Or winners is coming to an end. While the votes of 100 international journalists closed on September 28, the suspense remains as to the identity of the future winner.

But according to the information broadcast by the X The Touchline account, the race for the Ballon d’Or would ultimately be limited to a duel between two men. The English media claims that Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane occupy the first two places in the official ranking, without however revealing in what order.

“Confirmed: Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane are the two main contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or. The battle for the trophy will be between them alone,” insured the specialized account.

Hanouna announces the victory of Lamine Yamal

This announcement confirms the trends observed among British bookmakers, who place the Spanish prodigy of FC Barcelona and the English butcher of Bayern Munich neck and neck, relegating Kylian Mbappé to a distant third place. A hierarchy which excludes, at least at the top, other contenders regularly cited in recent weeks such as Rodri, Lionel Messi, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Fabian Ruiz.

The world of media also has its indiscretions. In his show Tout beau tout nouveau, Cyril Hanouna brought his own reading grid by announcing the final victory of Lamine Yamal in front of Harry Kane. According to him, Rodri would complete the podium, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia would finish fourth, just ahead of defending champion Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé.

Between supposed leaks, speculation and odds predictions, the wait is coming to an end. The official verdict as well as the exhaustive ranking for this 2026 edition will be revealed on October 26 during the major ceremony organized by France Football at the Palladium Theater in London.
