Called up for the French team for the first time, Esteban Lepaul (26 years old) failed to do well. The Stade Rennais scorer played three matches out of four, including two starts against Belgium. Mute, it really didn’t weigh much and you could feel it. The 1998 World champion Emmanuel Petit made the observation to After RMC.

“Lepaul? He didn’t really exist. He still has a long way to go before returning to the French team. He has good movement, good movements, but he does not have the quality of speed required, in a few spaces, to make the difference or position himself outside of marking. He has no superior qualities. When you’re at a high level, you need consistent qualities on a lot of points… But you also need certain qualities that are above the rest and part of the elite. I hope he will be able to reach these milestones.”he said.
