After taking the small point they needed to validate their ticket, by beating Luxembourg three days ago (3-2), the French Espoirs finished the job in style this Tuesday. As part of the tenth and final day of qualifying for Euro 2027 U21, Gérald Baticle’s men defeated Switzerland (7-1).
Clearly freed from a weight, and led by a fiery Mathys Tel, the French team did not wait more than ten minutes to take the lead thanks to the opening score of the Tottenham offensive. In the process, Noé Lebreton scored the break goal (2-0, 14th) before Tel did it again just before the break (3-0, 40th).
Match already over at the break, but no time out for the French Hopes who added a fourth goal, the work of Dehmaine Tabibou on a serve from… Mathys Tel (4-0, 51st). After the Swiss goal of honor scored by Liam Chipperfield (4-1, 53rd), Tel came out of his box again for a masterful hat-trick (5-1, 59th). Enough to end this qualifying phase in fourth place in the scorers’ ranking (8 goals).
Valentin Atangana also sees triple
But not yet enough to satisfy the Bleuets. Already a decisive passer on two occasions, Valentin Atangana offered a third caviar, this time to Steve Ngoura for the 6-1 (64th). The final point of this offensive demonstration will ultimately go to Kevin Danois in stoppage time (7-1, 90th+1).
The French Espoirs have completed the job perfectly and can now each return to their clubs. Euro Espoirs 2027 will take place in Albania and Serbia from June 16 to July 3, 2027.
