Rodri returned to one of the most notable issues of the last summer transfer window. Now at FC Barcelona after his departure from Manchester City, the 2024 Ballon d’Or was at the heart of a real duel between the two Spanish giants, since Real Madrid had also tried to convince him. In an interview given to El Partidazo de COPEthe Spanish midfielder confirmed that the Merengue club had seriously considered his recruitment and had spared no effort in trying to bring him in.
“Real Madrid showed interest from the first moment. They had exemplary behavior and the proposals were those of people who really wanted to recruit the player, I also want to make that clear”explained Rodri. Relaunched on whether Real had gone “100%” to recruit him, the Barça player replied: “I don’t know what going 100% means, but it’s clear they were interested and they put everything they had into showing interest, which I appreciate, because I spoke with some of them. » Rodri finally refused to confirm whether he had spoken directly with Florentino Pérez: “I’m going to keep that to myself. I spoke with people there who conveyed to me their enthusiasm and their desire for me to come, and that clearly made my decision more complicated. »
