Anger is growing among Manchester United supporters. This Tuesday, several Red Devils fans launched the hashtags “#GlazersAndIneosOut” and “#BoycottUnited” on social networks to protest against the management of the club’s owners. This mobilization comes as Manchester United is experiencing its worst start to a season in twelve years, with only five points taken in five Premier League days and elimination in the third round of the League Cup. Beyond sporting results, supporters are directly targeting the Glazer family and Ineos, whom they hold responsible for the club’s current situation.
The movement should not be limited to social networks. The supporters behind the operation are also calling for a boycott of products derived from Manchester United, but also from groups owned by Ineos and certain sponsors of the club, including Adidas and Coca-Cola. The Glazer family has controlled Manchester United for more than twenty years, while Ineos took a 25% stake in the capital in 2023. Since this arrival, Sir Jim Ratcliffe has participated in the sporting management of the club but also remains hotly contested by some of the supporters.
