Called in to reinforce the French team following Robin Risser’s withdrawal, Jean Butez (31 years old) will have the honor of discovering the French group. Aged 31, the Como goalkeeper who passed through Lille, Mouscron and Antwerp will have the opportunity to participate in the autumn gathering with Zinedine Zidane’s team. An honor that he debriefed at the microphone of beIN Sports : “we were coming back from an away match by plane, notably with Lucas (Da Cunha) and so yes the message upon landing was quite nice and therefore a bit of emotion to share with the team and then with loved ones afterwards. So it was a nice evening.”
The oldest player since 1976 to discover the France group for the first time, Jean Butez also confided that age was only a detail in his eyes: “I saw this stat, it’s pretty cool that it’s me who breaks the record but you’re never too old for a first selection.
