Nasser al-Khelaïfi is now the subject of a preliminary investigation in Paris for illegal acquisition of interests. The Paris prosecutor’s office contacted the Financial Anti-Corruption Brigade (BFAC) after the report filed by Anticor, which suspects the president of PSG of having used his various functions during negotiations on TV rights for Ligue 1 in the summer of 2024. At this period, Al-Khelaïfi was both president of PSG, boss of beIN Media Group and member of the board of directors of the LFP.
This report is not new: Anticor contacted the public prosecutor’s office on March 3, but a new step has just been taken with the opening of this preliminary investigation. The association is particularly wondering about the role that Nasser al-Khelaïfi may have played in the discussions leading to the allocation of part of the Ligue 1 rights to beIN Sports. A version contested by those around him, who described the complaint as “absurd”. One element also qualifies the suspicions put forward: Olivier Létang, president of LOSC and player in the negotiations, explained that it was the LFP which had requested beIN Sports so that the broadcaster would invest 100 million euros in the rights to the Championship, and not the other way around.
