Former Paris Saint-Germain player, then member of the club’s administration, Maxwell gave his view on the transformation of the Parisian club in recent years. Guest of the podcast Portugal Football Summithosted by Pedro Pinto, the Brazilian particularly praised the work carried out by Luis Enrique since his arrival on the Parisian bench and the collective identity established by the Spanish technician. “When Luis Enrique arrived, he built a new identity and focused on team play. Even in difficult times in the Champions League, they continued to play as a team, and this allowed them to win two fantastic titles. The success of Nasser Al-KhelaĂŻfi, Luis Enrique and Luis Campos is to have built a team that fights every year to win. Marquinhos, for example, represents both the past and the present; I hope they continue on this path again this season. »

Maxwell also returned to his arrival at PSG and the first stages of the transformation of the Parisian club, notably under Carlo Ancelotti. The Brazilian believes that this period constituted a major turning point in the club’s recent history, while emphasizing the role played by Nasser Al-KhelaĂŻfi in his personal development within the institution. “The clubs I had played for before already had a winning history, but PSG was completely different when I arrived. Ancelotti played an essential role in this first phase of transformation. We approached each match with the desire to write a new story for the club. Nasser welcomed me from the start and allowed me to go from being a player to being a member of the administration. Seeing PSG today winning two consecutive Champions Leagues gives me an extraordinary feeling. »
