PSG decided for Désiré Doué. While Ferran Torres has settled into the eleven, the Frenchman must now deal with new competition.

Ferran Torres’ sensational start to the season claims a victim at PSG. A strong man in the second Champions League in the history of Paris Saint-Germain, Désiré Doué is experiencing a more complicated recovery with the Parisian club. After a difficult summer with the Blues in the World Cup, where he notably suffered competition from Bradley Barcola, the former Rennais has appeared less sharp since his return to Paris.

Discreet during his last appearances with PSG, notably against Rennes (2-2), the striker lost his starting place to Ferran Torres. Arriving this summer, the Spaniard quickly established himself and offered victory to the Parisians on the Brest pitch (0-1). However, this situation does not worry Désiré Doué’s clan.

An extension in sight?

According to information from The Team published this Tuesday, those around him believe that this drop in playing time and efficiency does not reflect any physical or moral problem, but simply corresponds to the truth of the moment. This situation could, however, be taken into account in the coming months, while PSG still wishes to extend the contract of its young striker. Initial contacts have already taken place in this direction, reveals the sports daily, but discussions have not really progressed so far.

Arriving from Rennes for 50 million euros, Désiré Doué still has a relatively low salary in the Parisian locker room. He currently only has the 14th pay slip in the squad. If those around him are not yet worried about his situation, his playing time will nevertheless be closely monitored in the coming months. The French international’s clan obviously does not want to see him become a simple second choice behind Ferran Torres.
