Inter needed a huge turnaround to end the 4th day of Serie A with another victory. Trailing 2-0 at San Siro after goals from Abankwah (8th) and Ekkelenkamp (16th), the Nerazzurri completely overthrew Udinese. Carlos Augusto revived his team with a magnificent missile (26th), before Barella tied the two teams nine minutes later. After the break, Marcus Thuram gave Cristian Chivu’s men the advantage with a cross shot after a nice combination with Diouf (58th), before Pio Esposito came to definitively seal the Lombard success (74th). A success (5-3) which allows Inter to remain in the race for the top and to react immediately after its defeat against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
The evening was, however, marked by several incidents of play. Inter notably lost John Stones to injury, the English defender having stopped mid-race after feeling pain in his thigh against Davis (61st). He was replaced a few minutes later by Pavard. Before that, Okoye had kept Udinese in the match for a long time with several spectacular saves, notably against Thuram then Mkhitaryan. The meeting was also electric on the bench, with the expulsion of Kolarov, Chivu’s deputy, in the 19th minute after strong protests. Despite this completely crazy scenario, Inter found the resources to win (5-3) and achieve a fourth victory in four days of the championship.
