Mercato: OM would already have their next number one goalkeeper

OM were unable to recruit a new goalkeeper this summer. However, a profile is already clearly identified. And even already linked to the club.

Geronimo Rulli transferred to Manchester City, OM had to rely on Jeffrey De Lange to keep his cage from now on. Despite several avenues explored this summer – that of Toulouse’s Guillaume Restes in particular – the Marseillais were unable to strengthen themselves in this position. So much so that Théo Vermot and the young Ibrahim Gomis are invited to make up the number on the bench without any real experience at the highest level.

Certainly, OM will have to evolve sooner or later on this issue. But the Olympian management may already have a short-term solution, with a certain Simon Ngapandouetnbu in the sights according to Africa Foot. Transferred to Montpellier in 2025 after a year spent in Nîmes on loan, the Cameroonian international, now 23 years old, has made a name for himself among the Pailladins.

OM priority on the file

If he never had his chance at OM, the person concerned has become essential in Hérault. This season again with no less than four clean sheets to his credit already in six championship matches under the colors of the MHSC. A new impetus which would not go unnoticed on the Marseille side where we have never really lost sight of the kid from Foumban.

Since his transfer to Montpellier, Simon Ngapandouetnbu has never completely severed the link with the Phocaeans in fact since the latter have retained 50% of the player’s rights. No longer a priority for repurchase on the market. Clearly, OM can set their sights on the Hérault goalkeeper tomorrow by paying only half of his value. A value to date estimated at 2.5 million euros on the specialized site Transfermarkt.
