L’Equipe du Soir returned to school with a significantly revised formula.

The Evening Team returned with a brand new formula. Since the restart, several historical consultants have disappeared from the casting, like Vincent Duluc, Raymond Domenech, Johan Micoud and Bernard Lions. The stage has also been refined, with fewer speakers around the table. An overhaul which also concerns the channel’s other flagship shows, from L’Équipe de Greg to L’Équipe de Choc.

A way for La ChaĂ®ne L’Équipe to reduce its costs? Maybe. But this would not be the main reason for these changes. Asked by Le Figaro TVGiovanni Castaldi explained that the management of the L’Équipe group wanted above all to reduce the number of consultants per show to give each clearly identified face. The objective: to strengthen the support and above all the loyalty of viewers.

Giovanni Castaldi explains the channel’s choices

“I am a child of L’Équipe du Soir, since I arrived on La ChaĂ®ne L’Équipe I have been doing it, and this year I am on Greg’s L’Équipe and I am no longer doing L’Équipe du Soir. The positioning of the bosses was very clear: We want very identified people on each show, and we must start on a new cycle”explained the channel’s journalist.

A new organization which seems, for the moment, to be bearing its first fruits. “When you change people’s habits, inevitably there are dissatisfied people. But what I can tell you is that the return to school in terms of audiences, for L’Équipe du Soir and L’Équipe de Greg, but also L’Équipe de Choc, is rather very satisfactory. This means that there are dissatisfied people but also satisfied people”estimates Giovanni Castaldi. It now remains to be seen whether this overhaul of the main broadcasts of La ChaĂ®ne L’Équipe will make it possible to maintain these good results over time.
