It was rather expected but Bruno Genesio’s OM scored their third defeat in a row in Ligue 1, Friday evening in the den of Stade Rennais (1-0), at the opening of the 4th day, while a Classic awaits them next week against PSG, at the Vélodrome. The Marseillais had already shown their big shortcomings during the setbacks against Monaco (2-0) and Paris FC (2-3), they were beaten again by a little stronger at Roazhon Park. Franck Haise’s team took the opportunity to climb to the top of the ranking while waiting for the rest of the weekend.
OM did well in the first half, trying to be dangerous offensively, thanks to the technical gestures of Amine Gouiri or the ball provocations of Igor Paixao and Amine Harit. The Brazilian winger and the Moroccan number 10 came up against Brice Samba (10th and 51st). It was midfielders Angel Gomes (51st) and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (72nd) who had the best opportunities without being able to properly adjust their shot. Catastrophic at this level!

Keyliane Abdallah was launched first, on the right wing, before the entries of Neal Maupay and Faris Moumbagna but also of Tadjidine Mmadi and Derek Cornelius, who are a good reminder of the catastrophic state of the Marseille squad. Genesio would be well advised to let go of the Europa League by lining up numerous understudies next Thursday against Besiktas, traveling to Istanbul.
