A small controversy broke out with Rodri this weekend. The images of Movistar had thus filmed a conversation between the Barcelona player and his teammate Pau Cubarsi, in which he criticized the level of the Valencia players. “Really soft, these guys are really soft… Really soft. They suck, man! They really suck. They are pitiful. Where did they finish in the standings last season? They didn’t even cross the halfway line in the second half…” he told the defender.
He has since apologized to José Luis Gaya, Valencia captain, as well as publicly. But Carlos Corberan, the Ches coach, still has it bad. “These are very regrettable comments. These are not the words of a player who respects his professional colleagues. Gaya took the initiative to speak with him. We accept his public apology and believe he did what he had to do. But even though it was in a private conversation, he received a standing ovation from the stadium… It’s regrettable”indicated the coach at a press conference.
