The new Champions League season begins this Tuesday. After the play-off phase during which Olympique Lyonnais stopped, it is the turn of the league phase to take up residence. Besides the reception of Real Betis by Lille (9 p.m.), the real shock of this first day is the opposition between Real Madrid and Inter Milan. A meeting that Eduardo Camavinga will not play.
Yet protected from the media and used on the field by José Mourinho, the French midfielder not retained by Didier Deschamps with the Blues during the 2026 World Cup will therefore not be at the reception of the Nerazzurri. This was confirmed by the publication of the official list of Madrid players selected by their coach this Tuesday.
Starting this weekend during the defeat at Real Betis in La Liga (1-0, 4th day), Eduardo Camavinga is in reality neither punished nor injured. He is simply suspended. The red card he received last season, during the Champions League quarter-final second leg lost to Bayern Munich (4-3), is the cause.
Eduardo Camavinga, not the only one suspended
Also sent off in the same match, Arda Güler will not be present at the Bernabeu against Inter. Same price and explanation for the summer recruit from Manchester City, Bernardo Silva.
If Kylian Mbappé, Vinicius Junior or even Yan Diomandé are on the other hand very present, there are other long-term absentees who remain on the sidelines: Eder Militao, Rodrygo, Raul Asencio or even Ferland Mendy. Finally, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Endrick are back in the group.
