In office since 2016, Gianni Infantino does not intend to give up his comfortable seat as FIFA president. The Swiss-Italian-Lebanese leader, however, saw the sky darken over his head just after the 2026 World Cup, when his plan to sell shares of the World Cup to private investors leaked. Targeted by UEFA which requested his sidelining, dropped by some of the federations, the former right-hand man of Michel Platini held on. However, a new complaint was filed against him.
As confirmed by L’Équipe this Tuesday, it was FairSquare which once again attacked the FIFA boss. Tenacious, since a first banderilla linked to the presentation of the “Peace Prize” by Gianni Infantino to his friend Donald Trump during the draw for the 2026 World Cup broadcast on television, the non-governmental organization (NGO) has done it again. She therefore filed a complaint with the investigative chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee.
Last July, the request made by the British NGO to the IOC to “repeated violations of political neutrality” had been rejected. This time, it is for the same reason that Gianni Infantino is targeted. The sports media explained that it was able to consult the eight-page document sent to the commission. Listed in chronological order are the
“incidents (Who) concern Mr. Infantino’s links with the American president, Donald Trump”.
Gianni Infantino, incidents that call out
FairSquare also wrote that “each of the eight incidents detailed in this complaint provides compelling evidence of at least one violation of the FCE (ethical code)“ . Incidents which, according to the NGO,
“are closely related and should not be dissociated”. It concluded that, “taken as a whole, they“There is irrefutable evidence that the FIFA president has, at least, abused his power, failed in his duty of political neutrality and failed in his duty of loyalty in his efforts to curry favor with the American president.”
Many of these incidents are therefore linked to Donald Trump, according to FairSquare’s analysis. This famous “Peace Prize”, two messages of support for the American president posted on social networks by Gianni Infantino, or four other files once again involving the two leaders, including the episode of the red card withdrawn from Folarin Balogun during the World Cup.
