Manchester City continues its perfect start to the Premier League season with a third victory in as many days. Enzo Maresca’s men dominated promoted Coventry (1-0) thanks to the only goal of the match scored by Erling Haaland in the 26th minute. However, the situation remains much more complicated for Tottenham. Still looking for their first victory this season, Roberto De Zerbi’s men could not do better than a draw on the pitch at Nottingham Forest (0-0). A particularly poor encounter offensively for the Spurs, who did not score a single shot, but still won their first point of the season. Crystal Palace, for their part, offered their first victory under Pierre Sage after two defeats. Traveling to Fulham, the Eagles fell behind twice after goals from King (11th) and Palacios (42nd), despite a first equalizer from Mitchell (35th). The English full-back put Palace back on level terms in the 54th minute before giving way to Chilwell in the 74th. A winning change since the new entrant only needed three minutes to score the winning goal (3-2).
In the other two matches in this multiplex, Brighton and Leeds ended in a draw (1-1). Bogle gave Leeds an early lead in the 15th minute, before Vušković equalized for Brighton in the 71st. Same score between Brentford and Sunderland. The Bees thought they had done the most difficult thanks to Janelt’s opener in the 57th minute, but Enzo Le Fée allowed Sunderland to come back from the penalty spot in the 82nd (1-1). After these five matches, Manchester City temporarily occupies the lead in the Premier League with nine points out of a possible nine, while Coventry brings up the rear after three defeats in three days.
