Stefan Bajcetic is getting closer to a return to his training club, announces Fabrizio Romano. Celta Vigo are close to reaching an agreement with the 21-year-old Spanish midfielder over his personal terms, while Liverpool are willing to consider his permanent departure. Trained at Celta, Bajcetic left Vigo at just 16 years old, in December 2020, to join the Reds for 250,000 euros. After exploding under the orders of Jürgen Klopp during the 2022-2023 season, with 19 appearances in all competitions, his progress was greatly disrupted by injuries. He has now not played a single minute with Liverpool since May 2024.
It now remains to find the formula to complete his return to Galicia. Celta would like Liverpool to release Bajcetic from his final year of contract so that they can get him back without a transfer fee. The Reds could accept this solution while negotiating a percentage on a future resale. After loans to Red Bull Salzburg then to Las Palmas in 2024-2025, the Spaniard never managed to find a place in the Liverpool squad. A return to Celta, almost six years after his departure, would therefore offer him the opportunity to relaunch a career which seemed particularly promising when he started in the Premier League.
